Sucker Punch Bags

About 2 years ago I had the joy of meeting Mr Fuzzy Slippers. I was shooting Adidas Three Stories over the world cup and he was one of the locals. Over a few blurry banters we decided to collaborate. My craft and his illustrations. The bags we made went up at his first solo exhibition 'Something has changed in me'. I had so much fun there. To much fun (there were numerous permanent marker and topless moments that I am to ashamed to let myself remember. I blame it on youth and champagne).

Im in love with this project and cant wait untill the cosmos align so we can do a full range.
Oh, and the eyes are pockets.

I can happily say the collaboration was a success, and Fuzzy is now one of the most special friends I have in my life, and I can honestly say he's a great human and one of the worlds last true artists.

Here are our Sucker Punch Bags!

To paint and to build

Today I shot the Mafuta Ink boys, Hanno van Zyl and Themba Stewart (our amazing project manager) painting the interiors of our shacks in studio and building on our sight... Infecting the City is going to be interesting. Especially cause Im still not exactly sure what is going on besides our intervention.

Im loving shooting this process. Im having so much fun with the boys and really enjoy shooting people naturally.

Next post.. building and finished product...

The Cage- strip joint turned art hub.

The "Golden eggs Sick hens" project for Infecting the city (jump to previous post) has now moved into studio. What an incredible space! It used to be Cape Towns seediest strip club The Cage. Now its our secret seedy art pit. Beautiful stuff is happening with the Mafuta Ink boys and Hanno van Zyl.

-Infecting The City- starting at Harare

Infecting the city is a week long performance festival in the CBD and im photographically documenting Mafuta Ink (Nolan Dennis and a Mr Fuzzy Slippers) and Hanno van Zyls installation that they are doing outside the Cape Town train station. Essentially they are building shacks in the city, but its not really as simple as that -read the concept here- . We went into Harare with Cinga and interviewed people. The whole experience was interesting to say the least. You can forget how "dramatic"  South Africa is. From its miracles to its tragedies. Its contradictions and its extremities. -read interviews here-
