Sucker Punch Bags

About 2 years ago I had the joy of meeting Mr Fuzzy Slippers. I was shooting Adidas Three Stories over the world cup and he was one of the locals. Over a few blurry banters we decided to collaborate. My craft and his illustrations. The bags we made went up at his first solo exhibition 'Something has changed in me'. I had so much fun there. To much fun (there were numerous permanent marker and topless moments that I am to ashamed to let myself remember. I blame it on youth and champagne).

Im in love with this project and cant wait untill the cosmos align so we can do a full range.
Oh, and the eyes are pockets.

I can happily say the collaboration was a success, and Fuzzy is now one of the most special friends I have in my life, and I can honestly say he's a great human and one of the worlds last true artists.

Here are our Sucker Punch Bags!

Infecting finale

So infecting has come and gone. The boys built two beautiful shacks and the performances constantly kept the ever changing crowd amused.  I really appreciated one guys comment about the mermaid out of waters performance:

"Hey, Shes a seal"
"Ah, I think shes a mermaid out of water"
"Are you sure shes not a seal?"
"Yup"
"I dont get this art shit"

I couldn't help admiring the bleak robot made of milk cartons ambling around. I wish I had seen more and spent more time with the boys. On the last day I got to meet an amazing man teaching children to stick fight and organise stick-fighting tournaments. Fuzzy got involved. Im not sure who the winner was... Lets just keep Fuzzy's dignity intact and say it was him..

Massive thank you to

To paint and to build

Today I shot the Mafuta Ink boys, Hanno van Zyl and Themba Stewart (our amazing project manager) painting the interiors of our shacks in studio and building on our sight... Infecting the City is going to be interesting. Especially cause Im still not exactly sure what is going on besides our intervention.

Im loving shooting this process. Im having so much fun with the boys and really enjoy shooting people naturally.

Next post.. building and finished product...
