If you let yourself love a wild thing

Salon91 gallery and Greenpop are holding an exhibition for the month of December. The launch was on Saturday and two of my pieces are in the window. The exhibition is a visual buffet. Not a pre-packaged jam-and-white-bread-that-has-been-toasted-3-times-oros-in-a-jug buffet, but the dim sum-prawn-and-ploughmans-platter-of-a-buffet. With fresh fuit. The artists are amazing. Do youself a favour and get your toosh down there this month if you get a chance. I created two pieces. The one is based on the Duck from 'At least the Duck survived' . Its a thread sketch. and the other is a photo printed on canvas with a kiss stitched in.

Because it floats
As they do

Doing as they do

I spent my first weekend in New Zealand away on the west coast. To sum it up, New Zealand is exactly what you would expect if you're a fan of Lord of the Rings. Beautiful. Epic. Lush. Isolated. What you don't see from the movie is that it's beyond freezing. When I arrived the temperature was 0; which to me is like it doesn't even exist!

Here are some photos I took on a walk through the forests. I have to give it to the people here. On days most of us Capetonians would take a day off, watch re-runs of Tyra and over dose on hot chocolate, most of the population is out in full force 'camping and tramping'. I got a taste of this when we drove for an hour to watch a blow hole in the rain. (a concept I will never get used to).

I took these while listening to Minatorshock...

Comments would be loved!

Kumbayah bitches

So this weekend I was blessed and spoilt when my friend Cally took me on Safari with her. She won an all expense paid trip to Sabi Sands next to the Kruger National Park through Nokia with this picture. The picture is taken with a camera phone- well impressive.

We were on the maiden voyage of a game car made for photographers, with fully rotating seats, a  movable "arm" to mount your camera and professional Nikon camera equipment. Greg DuToit was out game ranger and photographic tutor on the tour. Hes a legend photographer and human, and has stories for days.
And then there was food. Lots and lots of food. And wine. And swimming. And more wine. And food.

The photos are completely different from anything Iv ever done. Its weird when your subject is completely unpredictable and could eat you. Still not sure how I feel about the pictures because its all so new, but I thought I should share.

Jabulani, Kumbayah and other safari stuff.
